How Accessible is your Group?

How Accessible is your Group?

Dear AA Groups,
In an ongoing effort to provide the most accurate and up to date information to fellow AA members
regarding meetings and meeting facilities, the Accessibilities Committee is seeking information about your group’s meeting hall’s handicap accessibility and/or special accommodations. This is a purely informational
survey. R.I. Central Service wants to ensure when AA members with disabilities arrive at a meeting knowing
the accommodations at the meeting hall so they can fully participate as members of the fellowship without
facing significant barriers due to physical or sensory impairment. R.I. Central Service also recognizes the
changing landscape of meeting formats, times and locations with the ongoing COVID situation. So what is
accurate today may not be tomorrow. Your feedback most likely will not impact the current description of your
meeting found with the meeting information on the website. The information will be communicated by Central Service as calls are fielded regarding the topic. With respect to the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Tenth Traditions the feedback provided by the survey is not being evaluated by R.I. Central Service versus American Disability Act (ADA) guidelines. While the ADA guidelines are being used as a resource to develop the survey, R. I. Central Service simply wants to provide accurate and helpful information to the AA member seeking a meeting.
